Casino Project Begins

JAMUL — Jamul Indian Village said Friday it has begun construction of the casino it has long sought for its land on state Route 94, an announcement that drew quick promises of lawsuits from opponents.

The tribe and Penn National Gaming plan a $360 million project to be called Hollywood Casino Jamul, which would have nearly 2,000 game machines, 50 gaming tables, an events center, five restaurants and a 1,900-car parking structure. The tribe said it would open in 2015.
