JIV Chairwoman Throws First Pitch at Padres Game

Jamul Indian Village Chairwoman Erica Pinto was honored with the opportunity to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at a San Diego Padres game this month.

“I was honored to stand in front of Padres fans and throw out the first pitch,” said Chairwoman Pinto. “It felt great when that ball made it to the catcher.”

The event was part of Native American Night September 9 at the Padres vs. Colorado Rockies game.

“I think I have a career ahead of me in the MLB,” Pinto joked.

The Jamul Indian Village has plenty of Padres fans in the Tribe, including Executive Council Member Michael Hunter who is excited for Hollywood Casino Jamul-San Diego to feature Tony Gwynn’s Sports Pub.

“It is surreal to have the first Tony Gwynn themed sports bar in our casino,” said Executive Council Member of the Jamul Indian Village Michael Hunter. “I grew up watching and rooting for the Padres, and Tony Gwynn was one of my heroes. It will be an honor to have his memorabilia at Hollywood Casino Jamul-San Diego.”

The first ever Tony Gwynn themed sports bar will display a variety of Gwynn memorabilia, including Gold Glove and Silver Slugger awards, his personal narration of career highlights, game-used uniforms and equipment, and much more.
