Robert W. Mesa
Executive CouncilmanRecently elected to the Executive Council in June 2005, Robert Mesa is working hard to bring in a new era of prosperity to all the members of the Jamul Indian Village.
Concerned about the disproportionate number of American Indian students that are currently at risk of not graduating from high school and who, therefore, are not attending college, Robert is a mentor in the American Indian Recruitment (AIR) program which attempts to give Native students positive role models to help them become active in perusing their education. Concerned about restoring and saving the history and culture of the Jamul Indian Village, Robert continues his studies on the native language and culture so that he may be a leader and pass on the great heritage to future generations. Because of his ongoing efforts to give back to the community, Robert was awarded the prestigious Keane Scholarship.
Robert graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in finance. He is also A+ Certified, which is an industry credential that validates the knowledge of computer service technicians with the equivalent of 500 hours of hands-on experience. In addition, he is a California certified notary public.
Preserving our future means remembering and taking care of our past. I am committed to protecting our rights for future generations so they too may enjoy the freedom and liberties we have today.
